Tri-City Relays Track Club exists to mentally and physically develop North Carolina youth ages 5-18 through year-round athletic and academic programs.

Our Program operates in Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Chatham County and Wilmington.

The primary objective of this site is to serve our membership and improve communications. Our Club works to promote a fun, fair, and safe environment that maximizes participation and improves players' skills while developing sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Fast Track High School Invitational - Volunteers Needed

The brand new JDL Fast Track (http://www.jdlfasttrack.com/will open for its first track meet this Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28.  This will be the inaugural event at the facility and we at Tri-City have been called upon to volunteer.  Any parent, coach, or athlete that is interested in volunteering should contact the following person to sign up:

This will be a wonderful opportunity for our organization to participate in a high-caliber indoor meet right in our own community.

   

There will be a meeting on Monday, Jan 2nd at 6pm at Habitat House for all interested coaches for outdoor season.  Please let others know who may be interested.

   

There will be indoor track practice today, January 24th at 6pm at Hanes Park  in Winston- Salem.  Please dress appropriately for the weather. We will be outside on the track.  Thank you.

   

Indoor season has just begun.  First day of practice is December 4th at 3pm at Winston-Lake Trail/ Indians Field.  Attached below is the link for the indoor application.  Please bring to next practice. Next practice will be December 6th at 6pm at Northwest Middle School, Winston- Salem, NC.

AAU Junior Olympic Games Day 6 (Saturday, August 6)

Perry Cabean, who is participating in his 8th straight Junior Olympic games, finished 6th in the young men's 3000m run.  As temperatures approached 100 degrees with extreme levels of humidity, Perry stayed at the back of the pack for most of the race and then surged to the front with the leaders with 2 laps to go.  His time of 9:13 was a personal record.  Our primary boys  4x100m relay team consisting of Zyon Ellison, Brandon Johnson, Tyshorn Phillip, and Jameson Warren finished 7th in the finals with a time of 59.62 to earn All-American status.  This marks the first time since 2003 that one of our boys relay teams under the age of 12 has earned All American medals.  The youth girls 4x100m team continued our winning ways by finishing 7th in the finals to earn All American medals.  Ila Mumford, Jessica Watson, Katlyn Sherman, and Erin Morrison combined their efforts to run 49.42 in an exciting race.  Congratulations to our latest All-Americans and thanks to all of our athletes, parents, administrators, and coaches for an outstanding season.

   
AAU Junior Olympic Games Day 5 (Friday, August 5)

Austin Vegas, a rising senior at East Forsyth high school completed his summer track season with an impressive vault in the young men's (17 - 18) division.  Austin, an accomplished vaulter who is in his first season with Tri-City, soared over a height of 14'6" to finish 8th overall and earn All-American status.  Additionally, two of Tri-City's 4x100m relays, earned spots in tomorrow's final. In the primary boys division (7-8 yr. old), Zyon Ellison, Brandon Johnson, Tyshorn Phillip, and Jameson Warren finished second in their heat with an outstanding time of 59.56 to finish amongst the top 8 qualifiers for tomorrow's final.  The youth girls 4x100m team performed well also.  The team comprised of Ila Mumford, Jessica Watson, Katlyn Sherman, and Erin Morrison turned in a nice time of 49.21 to win their heat and qualify for tomorrow's final.  Congratulations to our newest All-American and tomorrow's finalists. 

   
AAU Junior Olympic Games Day 4 (Thursday, August 4)

Miles Cabean added to the Tri-City medal total with a solid performance in the youth boys (14 yr. old) 1500m. Miles, an 11-time AAU All-American, finished 5th in a time of 4:27.57.  Please congratulate Miles for an outstanding season. 

   
AAU Junior Olympic Games Day 3 (Wednesday, August 3)

Carl Walton, Jr., a rising senior at Northwest Guilford and the N.C. 4A 800m state champion, earned All-American status by finishing fifth in the young men (17 -18 yr. old) 800m run in 1:55.78.  Carl used a strong finish to overcome several competitors at the end of the race.  This was Carl's first AAU outdoor track All-American award. Congratulations to Carl.

   
AAU Junior Olympic Games Day 2 (Tuesday, August 2)

Tri-City athlete Jason Grant earned All-American honors in the bantam (10 yr. old) boy's division by tossing the shot put 27'3.25".   Jason, no stranger to the podium, has been a model of consistency.  Jason earned All-American status for the second year in a row.  Khalib Pettigrew, one of our outstanding sub-midget (11 yr. olds) athletes, finished 7th in the shot put.  Khalib's toss of 33'4.5" gave Tri-City it's third shot put All-American award of the games. Congratulations to Khalib for his outstanding performance. Congratulations to coaches Wesley Moore and Jay Carlton as well for their outstanding committment to our athletes.

   
AAU Junior Olympic Day 1 (Monday, August 1)

Tri-City athletes began their junior olympic trip with several All-American performances. Denard Williams returned to the All-American podium by finishing 3rd in the midget (12 yr. olds) boys high jump competition with an outstanding jump of 5'0". In his first junior olympic competition, Caden Davis threw the shot put 25'1" in the primary (8 yr. olds) boys division to finish 7th overall.  Caden has been a consistent performer all year and this achievement caps an outstanding season.  Ila Mumford continued her winning ways by finishing 8th in the youth (14 yr. old) girls triple jump to add to her overall All American awards.  Ila jumped 34'5.5" in a very tough competition. Congratulations to our latest All Americans, let's keep it rollin'!

   

Open Positions

We will be voting on the following 2 positions at the banquet: Vice-President & Treasurer. You must pay $5 cash to Sherri in order to become a Tri-City member and cast your vote. If you are interested in either of these positions, please submit your name to Melinda by Friday, 7/22, so your name can be included on the ballot.

   
Banquet Update

We will hold our annual Tri-City banquet on Monday, 7/25, at Greater Cleaveland Avenue Christian Church beginning at 6:30pm. Please plan to attend and share this information with others who may not have email access.

Due to the banquet, there will be NO practice on Monday, 7/25. We will resume practice on Tuesday, 7/26, at WSSU.

   
Practice Will Move Back To Winston Salem State University

Practices will be held at Winston Salem State University for the remainder of the season.

Meet 5:  2011 HP Panthers - Ken Roberts Track and Field Challenge

Meet 2: Duane Ross Developmental Track Meet hosted by the Gastonia Eagles

The second meet of the season will be the Duane Ross Developmental Track Meet.  The meet will be held at Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, NC on Saturday, May 14 beginning at 9:00 A.M.  Please have the athletes arrive by 8:00 a.m. in order to prepare them effectively to compete.  If you are interested in car pooling, a group of parents will leave from the Thruway Shopping center at 6:00 a.m.

Miles Cabean and Ila Mumford Become Tri-City's Latest National Champions!

Ila Mumford and Miles Cabean both earned national titles at the AAU Southern Indoor Championships held on March 4 and March 5 at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Miles won the Youth (14 year olds) Boys 1500m in 4:50.  This was Miles' 8th All-American Medal and the second national title of his young career.  Ila won the Youth Girls Triple Jump with an outstanding mark of 33'10".  Ila finished second in the Triple Jump in last summer's junior olympics.  This was her first indoor championship meet.  The Bantam (10 year olds) Girls won the 4x400m relay (see featured story in right column) in a dramatic race with the Chattanooga Jets.  The team of Zhane Epps, Ananda Jackson, Aisha Martin, and Nytrinitey Jenkins needed a strong finish from Jenkins to pass the runner from Chatanooga in the final 50 meters and take the gold.  Congratulations to our national champions!

2011 AAU Southern Indoor Championships

The indoor track and field team travels to East Tennessee State University on Thursday, March 3 to compete in the AAU southern indoor championships.  Please join us and wish our athletes well.

NYTRINITEY WINS CROSS COUNTRY GOLD!

Nytrinitey Jenkins wins the primary girls cross country championship at the recent AAU national cross country championships this past Saturday (December 4) in Orlando, Florida.  Nytrinitey ran 7:49.23 for a narrow victory on the 2000m course. Sylvester Reed, III also earned All-American Status with a 5th place finish in the primary boys 2000m race.  Sylvester's time of 7:32.72 was his fastest of the season.  Tri-City's intermediate boys team of Marquis Worsley, Perry Cabean, Carl Walton, Brandon Cromer, Bret Freed, and Nate Gordon finished 2nd in their race's team scoring.  See story in right column.

   
AAU Junior Olympic Championships Re-Cap

The Tri-City Relays Youth Track and Field team competed very well at this weekend's AAU National Junior Olympic  Track and Field Championships held in Norfolk, VA from July 31 through August 8.  Leading the way was Ila Mumford who was a national runner-up in the Sub-Youth (13 yr. olds) girl’s Triple Jump competition.  Ila soared to a distance of 34’5.5” to earn a silver medal and capture second place.  Ila surpassed her previous best jump by 2 feet.  Jason Grant earned All-American honors in the Sub-Bantam (9 yr. olds) boy’s shot put.  Jason’s toss of 26’4” was good enough to earn a 4th place finish.  This was Jason's highest finish at the Junior Olympics.  Makaila Roberts continued to prove to be one of the best all-around track athletes in the nation as she finished 4th in the Sub-Youth girl’s pentathalon and added to her growing number of All-American awards.  In the Midget (12 yr. olds) boy’s division, Marquise McGee finished 5th in the 1500m run.  His time of 4:53.41 was five seconds better than his previous time.  This is only Marquise’s second year running and his first All-American award.  Kevin Brown finished 6th in the Sub-Youth boys 3000m Racewalk.  Kevin improved on his previous best by more than two minutes to take away his first All-American award.  In the Sub-Youth boy’s 800m, Miles Cabean upset many perennial All-Americans and finished 7th in a nice time of 2:11.25. This was his first All-American honor in the outdoor 800m.  Sharikah Patton earned an All-American honor in the Sub-Youth girl’s 200m hurdles by finishing 8th with a time of 30.33.  This was Sharikahs first All-American Award in an individual event.  Tri-City ended their outstanding 2010 campaign with several outstanding performances.  We look forward to our Cross Country season in 4 weeks.

   
AAU Junior Olympics Day 7 (Friday, August 7)

Tri-City athletes continued their strong showing at the AAU Junior Olympics in Norfolk, VA as Ila Mumford finished second in the Sub-Youth girls triple jump with a leap of 34'5.5". Congratulations Ila!

Although there were some notable performances, we did not add to our medal count today.

   
AAU Junior Olympics Day 5 (Wednesday, August 4)

Miles Cabean and Sherikah Patton added to Tri-City's continued medal count.  Sherikah captured her first AAU All-American medal by finishing 8th in the Sub-Youth Girls 200m hurdles.  Miles Cabean finished 7th in the sub-youth boys 800m run.

   
AAU Junior Olympics, Day 4 (Tuesday, August 3)

The Tri-City Relays youth track and field teams continued to roll on day 4 of the AAU Junior Olmypic championship.  Marquise McGee finished 5th in the Midget (12 yr. olds) 1500m run and earned All-American honors.  Marquise's time of 4:53.41 was more than 5 seconds better than his seed time.

   
AAU Junior Olympics, Day 3 (Monday, August 3)

Jason Grant finished 4th in the sub-bantam boys (9 yr. old) shot put with a throw of 26'04". Sharikah Patton qualified by finishing 7th in the preliminary round of sub-youth (13 yr. old) girls 200m hurdles. Sharikah's time of 30.08 moved her into Wednesday's final. Miles Cabean won the 4th heat of the sub-youth boys 800m run with a time of 2:11.70.  Miles will compete in the 800m final on Wednesday.

   
AAU Junior Olympics Day 2 (Sunday, August 1)

On Sunday, August 1st, Kevin Brown of Winston Salem finished 6th in the 3000m Racewalk.  Kevin earned All-American honors and improved on his previous best time by 4 minutes.

   
AAU Junior Olympics Day I (Saturday, July 31)

On Saturday, July 31, Makaila Roberts of Rural Hall earned All-American honors by finishing 4th in the Sub-Youth (13 yr. Olds) girls pentathalon.

NCAA Results

Maurice Eubanks, former Tri-City Relays Athlete and a Senior at UNC Pembroke, finishes 6th in the 100m final at the NCAA Division II championships held at Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, California.  Congratulations to Maurice and his family.  We are all very proud!
